| Specialist Notes: |
The Center of Excellence is an advanced level in-person workshop. Although all users should be able to see the COE workshop events, the session details and the ability to register is restricted to eligible Officials only.
Eligibility: Officials must meet both an education requirement and a certification requirement as outlined below.
| COE Type | COE Type Education Requirement | Certification Requirement |
| Roving | Roving Umpire Workshop | Tier 1 Roving Umpire |
| Referee | Referee Workshop | Tier 2 Referee |
| Chair | Chair Umpire Workshop | Tier 2 Chair Umpire |
| Chief | Chief Online Module | Tier 2 Chief Umpire |
| Line | Line Umpire Workshop | Tier 1 Line Umpire |
If an Official reaches out stating they cannot see the session info, please verify if they have met the education and certification requirements. We can check their transcript for the education requirement, and the Certification Tier information is located on the User Records page. (see screenshot below)
Registration: After clicking the 'Request' button, the user will receive an email that contains an online application. They will need to make sure to fill out the online application in order to successfully be nominated. The approval is done by the USTA Officiating Team and they will not approve anyone for these workshops until the registration is closed and once all the applications are reviewed. The USTA Officiating team will then notify everyone who was selected after the application review process is complete. If a user needs assistance with the online application or have inquiries regarding the approval process/your status, please direct them to the USTA Officiating Team (officiating@usta.com).
Completion: In order to be considered as having "successfully completed" a Center of Excellence workshop, participants must pass a knowledge check and receive a satisfactory evaluation on classroom participation and on-court skills. They will then receive 2 General Knowledge credits and 2 Tennis Knowledge credits.
