Specialist Notes:


Users can submit requests for continual learning credits by clicking the ‘Submit Training’ button from the homepage. This will take them to the ‘Add External Training’ page, and they can submit the form for the following: 

  • General Knowledge Credit:

    Credit will be applied to training that delivers content, not covered under the Tennis Knowledge library, and which can be applied directly to officiating assignments by USTA Certified Officials in any of the recognized disciplines, Roving Umpire, Referee, Chair Umpire, Chief Umpire, Line Umpire.

    Examples:

  • CPR/AED Training: Documentation is required. Once approved, the user will earn 2 General Knowledge credits.

  • Certified to Work in Another Sport: Documentation is required. Once approved, the user will earn 1 General Knowledge credit.

  • Officiating Collective non-sport specific courses: Documentation is not required but encouraged. Once approved, the user will earn 1 General Knowledge credit per module.

  • Tennis Knowledge Credit:

    Credit will be applied to training that delivers content which can be applied directly to at least one of the following:

  • Tennis officiating skills for USTA Certified Officials in any of the recognized disciplines; Roving Umpire, Referee, Chair Umpire, Chief Umpire, Line Umpire

  • ITF Rules of Tennis

  • USTA Regulations 


Although users can earn Continual Learning Credits for the following as well, they do not need to submit the request for it:

  • ITA Certification - The ITA and USTA work together regarding who is a currently certified Official for each organization. They will not accept credit requests from an Official for their ITA 2025 - 2026 certification. Information on which Officials are ITA certified for the 2026 - 2027 period will be shared directly from the ITA to the USTA in October 2026.

WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW?

The USTA Officiating team also provided info on Credit Awards for Section Events. Please note that the info below is specific to Section Chairs:


The USTA Officiating Department recognizes that Sections may, at times, host events that provide learning and development opportunities for Officials.


As a Section Chair, you can now request to have up to 4 continual learning credits awarded and preapproved for your event; two General Knowledge and two Tennis Knowledge.

IMPORTANT!
  • We should not take any action on the user's behalf. If you notice they have not clicked the 'Mark Complete' button due to the ‘Registered’ status of the training, please provide instructions so the user can take the action on their end.

  • If the training status shows ‘Pending Completion Approval’ and it has been longer than 2 weeks, please escalate it to the Admins.

  • If the 'Mark Complete' option is missing, or if users need to edit their request, please refer to the External Training | Edit SR.

To submit a training request for Continual Learning Credits, please follow the steps below:

1. Log in to the USTA Officiating Development Hub.

2. On the homepage, click the ‘Submit Training’ button.

3. You will be directed to a page where you will need fill out the required info, including a brief statement of at least two learnings from the experience that will assist you in your role(s) as a USTA Certified Official.

4. Click the ‘Submit’ button. You will then be taken to your transcript page, where you will need to make sure to click the ‘Mark Complete’ button to confirm your submission.

Your request will then be reviewed by the USTA Officiating Education Team, usually within two weeks. You’ll get an email with the decision and credit details.
